Costa Blanca

Costa Blanca

Between Dénia in the North and Pilar de la Horadada in the South – is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain, the Costa Blanca. Every year, hundreds of thousands of tourists visit the Costa Blanca, mostly coming from Northern European origins, like the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Belgium and Scandinavia. The white coast is not named after the many white beaches but after the many almond trees, that provide beautiful white and rose blossoms in spring. On the Costa Blanca, you will find white pebble and golden sandy beaches, bays with green blue waters and rising rocks.

Another difference with Alicante and Benidorm – which because of the many discotheques, bars and nightclubs is a popular holiday destination among young people – is that the smaller coastal towns are more focused on families, children and tourists who appreciate peace and luxury.

321 days of sunshine

Costa Blanca’s climate is characterized by a mild temperature, measured over the whole year, with an average of 22 to 24 ° C. The temperature is regulated naturally by the influences of the Mediterranean and the mountainous hinterland. In the winter it averages 15 to 17 ° C and in the summer months it averages 28 to 30 ° C. The Costa Blanca counts the most hours of sunshine in Europe, with an average of 321 days of sunshine per year.

Beaches

The Costa Blanca has both pebble and sandy beaches. The beaches are mostly long, wide and clean. Many services and facilities are provided on the beaches; sun beds, parasols and sun screens are for rent and you can eat and drink at one of the many beach terraces. Most beaches are perfect for kids as well. Most beach waters gradually decline providing perfect and safe environments for children. Often you can find small pebbles in the sea so it is advisable to wear water shoes.

Some beaches offer playgrounds for children. The beaches are overall well maintained and in summer during the day, beach guards are present. Many beaches at the Costa Blanca have been graded with blue flags. These flags are provided to beaches that have excellent quality and are given to beaches with clean swimming water, providing safety and easy accessibility. On the Costa Blanca, you can find the blue flags, in amongst others, in Denia, Javea, Calpe, Playa de Albin, Villajoyosa, Benidorm and Altea.

At a few places on the Costa Blanca you can spot dolphins and whales near the shores. How fantastic is that!
